Mulund has the worst COVID19 growth rate and doubling rate; coronavirus cases in the area cross 10,000-mark

Area-wise data released by the BMC shows the number of cases in Ward-T, i.e. Mulund, has increased to 10,456, out of which 1,700 cases are active. The locality is also among the top ten most affected cases in Mumbai.

Coronavirus cases in the city of Mumbai have been increasing exponentially and over the last few days, several localities in Mumbai have reported a rapid rise in cases, especially the wards located in the North of Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) released a report with regards to the COVID19 scenario. 

As of October 11 2020, more than 2.27 lakh coronavirus cases have been reported in Mumbai, out of which 1.92 lakh cases have been discharged. The city has recorded more than 9300 deaths so far. Besides this, over 22,000 cases in the city are active, of which 1400 cases were critical 

Area wise data shows the number of cases in Ward-T, i.e. Mulund,  have crossed the 10,000-mark taking the overall tally to 10,456 cases, out of which 1,700 cases are active. More than 8,500 patients have been discharged and 230 have died due to the infection. The locality is also among the top ten most affected cases in Mumbai.

Besides this, the growth rate coronavirus cases in Mulund has also worsened, and the locality has the worst growth rate of 1.33 per cent, which is more than the average of 1.01 per cent reported in Mumbai. Even in terms of doubling rate, Mulund has the worst and the lowest doubling rate of 53 days, which is followed by Kandivali, Bandra and Borivali.

Observing the increasing number of cases the BMC has sealed buildings and areas in the locality marking them as containment zones. As per reports, a total of 48 areas and more than 700 buildings in this ward have been sealed by the officials.

Besides this, areas like Bandra, Borivali, Dahisar, Andheri, Chembur, Dadar, Ghatkopar and Bhandup are worst affected in Mumbai. 

The state government and the BMC have directed strict measures to ensure the spread of the virus is contained. However, under the unlock 5.0 guidelines issued by the ministry, several activities have resumed in the states due to which the movement. over the last few weeks, permissions have been given for businesses and services to begin operations, and it is said that this decision has also led to an increasing number of cases, as people have not been following the social distancing and norms mentioned by the officials.
