Thane Municipal Corporation makes record collection of INR 200 cr in property tax in just 66 days

In the first quarter of property tax, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has collected a record property tax of INR 200 crore in 66 days of the financial year. Thanekar's unprecedented response to property tax payment is commendable, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar mentioned. The TMC had prepared the payments for the current (2023-24) financial year on April 01,  2023 and informed the citizens through SMS. Updated facility of downloading, printing and online payment of property tax was provided through this SMS. The citizens gave a spontaneous response to this.

To facilitate the payment of property tax to the citizens, tax collection centres have been operationalized in all ward committee offices and the said centres are open during office hours and on public holidays. Property tax payments are being distributed to all the property owners as per the ward committee and an appeal was made regarding the payment of tax by ensuring that the said property payments have been received or not. The property tax department of Thane Municipal Corporation has been given a recovery target of INR 900 crore this year.

Efforts should be made to recover INR 1000 crores

In the first quarter of the financial year 2022-23, the property tax collection department has collected property tax amounting to INR 200 crores.

90 percent increase over last year

INR 108.35 crores was recovered on June 7, 2022 in the financial year of 2022-23. Compared to that, this year the increased recovery of INR 92.22 crores is 90 percent. A total of 1,51,536 property owners have paid tax so far this year.

Measures for recovery of tax

All the citizens/taxpayers of Thane Municipal Corporation area have made available online property related facilities. In this, taxpayers will be able to use all the facilities related to property tax from their home or office. How much tax is pending on your property, how much is the penalty, if any, how much property tax can be paid, all questions can be answered at home through the website of the municipal corporation. Special attention has been given to facilitate the process in such a way that there is no need to come to the Municipal Corporation office and meet anyone for any kind of information.

Collection Centres at Ward Offices

Collection centres have been started in all ward offices of Thane Municipal Corporation to pay property tax. Property owners can visit this centre from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 am and 5: 00 pm. Apart from that, the online tax payment facility is also operational. Taxpayers can get the computerised copy of their payment through the link propertytax.thanecity.gov.in or from the collection centre at the ward office, and also through this link one can pay via Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card and Google Pay. Taxpayers can deposit their property tax online through PhonePe, PayTm, and BHIM app.
