Under the Bandra Government Redevelopment Project, the work of 120 houses in the second phase will start soon and 2 BHK houses will be built for A and B class officials. Tenders will be called for this work by the Public Works Department in the next 15 days. On the other hand, the work of 2000 houses for C and D class officers-employees is proceeding at a slow pace. Now August is being said for the completion of the houses.

A government estate is situated on 92 acres at Bandra East. There are residences for all A, B, C and D class employees. All the buildings in this colony are old and dilapidated. Against this backdrop, the Public Works Department has taken up the redevelopment of the government estate. Under this redevelopment, 5120 houses will be constructed in the vacant land of the government colony. Accordingly, the work of 2120 houses has been undertaken in the first phase.

384 square feet houses are being constructed for C and D category. The work of these houses has started since 2019 and the work is expected to be completed in March 2021. But due to Corona and slow pace of work, this work is still not completed. After missing the deadline of March 2021, the Public Works Department gave the date of August-September 2022. As the work was not completed within this period, the deadline of March-April 2023 was again given, but the construction department also missed it.

Now a new date of August 2023 is being announced for the completion of these houses. The houses will be completed and handed over to the General Administration Department by August. After that, a senior official of the Public Works Department informed that the houses will be distributed by the General Administration Department. While the work of 2000 houses in the government colony is going on, now the work of another 120 houses will be started. These houses will be for Class A and Class B officers. The houses are 800 to 1000 sq feet. Tenders will be invited for their work within 15 days. The official said that it is planned to complete the tender process as soon as possible and start the work.

Meanwhile, the work of 2120 houses out of 5120 has been completed and there is a question as to when the work of remaining 3000 houses will start. When asked about this, the senior officials said that the work of 3000 houses as well as the redevelopment of the entire colony will be done with the help of The Korean Land and Housing Corporation in South Korea.
