In response to a worsening water shortage, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has banned vehicle washing at all service centres across the city.

The restriction, which will remain in place until June 10, prohibits the use of potable water for washing vehicles, including two-wheelers and cars. The move has been taken as a precautionary measure due to falling water levels in reservoirs and increasing demand during the summer.

The civic body has warned that strict action and penalties will be imposed on establishments violating the order. Officials said the step is aimed at conserving water and ensuring adequate supply for essential domestic use.

Citizens have also been urged to avoid water wastage and cooperate with conservation efforts during the ongoing crisis.
