Mumbai residents have raised concerns over increasing anti-social activities in public gardens and playgrounds across the city, especially during evening hours.

BMC Gardens Committee chairperson and BJP corporator Hetal Gala has written to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, urging enhanced police patrolling in these public spaces. She said several parks and playgrounds have reportedly seen incidents of drug consumption, alcohol use, illegal liquor sales, and harassment after sunset.

Gala highlighted that these issues are creating safety concerns for women, children, and senior citizens who regularly use these recreational areas. She stressed that while Mumbai’s parks and playgrounds are meant for public health and leisure, lack of adequate monitoring during evening hours is allowing such activities to increase.

She has demanded stronger and regular police presence to ensure safety and make public spaces more secure for citizens.
