Thane is a city of lakes and in order to preserve the lakes from the perspective of the environment, for many years, the immersion of the home-made Ganesha idol in the city of Thane is done in artificial lakes created by the Thane Municipal Corporation instead in the actual lakes.

Although the number of artificial lakes has been increased in Thane city this year, for the convenience of citizens, immersion arrangements will be made in ponds at various 42 places in the city. Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has appealed to the citizens to do eco-friendly homemade Ganesha immersion without digging a hole in the

ground.
