Women voters will now get sanitary napkins at polling booths

‘Sakhi Matdan Kendra’ are polling booths that are entirely managed by women. It has been set in 26 assembly segments at Kurla, Andheri and Borivli. As a goodwill gesture, Sakhi Matdan Kendra will now give sanitary napkins to women voters at polling booths. This is a unique initiative to give impetus to gender equality and encourage women voters.

As stated in PTI, an official said that each woman voter at these polling booths will be given a pack of sanitary napkins as a goodwill gesture. Besides, arrangement of cold drinks would also be made for both men and women who exercise their franchise at these booths. Self-Help Groups and workers of the 'anganwadis' which is government-run women and child care centres are also making efforts to encourage women to cast a vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. 

Voting in Mumbai will be held on April 29, 2019.
