ICC releases Asia Cup 2018 schedule; India-Pakistan to clash on September 19

On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that defending champions India are all set to encounter arch-rivals Pakistan on September 19. The match will happen a day after India will begin their Asia Cup 2018 campaign under the captainship of Virat Kohli against a yet-to-be-confirmed qualifier team.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are all confirmed participants whereas the remaining spot will be filled through a qualifier between, the host, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Oman, Nepal, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

India, Pakistan and the qualifier will be part of Group A whereas Group B will consist of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Amongst the six teams, top two teams will qualify from each group and the Super Four i.e. qualified teams will be fighting for the spot in finals where the victorious from the Super Four will lock horns on September 28.
