India-West Indies fourth ODI shifted from Wankhede Stadium to Brabourne Stadium

On October 29, the fourth One-Day International (ODI) match between India and West Indies was scheduled to be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. However, due to some non-negotiable issues, the match has been shifted from Wankhede stadium to Brabourne stadium at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai.

On Friday the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement saying,

Under the instructions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators, the fourth One-day International match between India and Windies scheduled on 29th October at Wankhede Stadium has been shifted to Cricket Club of India, Mumbai.”

 The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had presented its side to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) regarding the conduct of the match at Wankhede due to its financial issue. The Mumbai club had even asked BCCI to conduct the match instead as they were unable to operate its bank account.

Earlier, Bombay High Court had appointed a two-member CoA to look after the functioning of MCA but its term ended on September 15. Therefore, the CoA handed over the responsibility to CEO CS Naik. However, Naik did not have the authority to sign the cheques on behalf of MCA. Due to which, all the payments so far have been halted, including the staff salaries and the players’ daily allowances.
