Indian opener and Mumbai batsman Rohit Sharma will be making a return to domestic cricket after his last match in 2017. The Indian vice-captain will be making the comeback in Mumbai’s encounter against Bihar in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The right-handed batsman will play for Mumbai since Sharma is not a part of the Test team which is playing against West Indies. The decision was made by Mumbai’s selection committee which is headed by former cricketer Ajit Agarkar.

Earlier, Sharma was part of his domestic team in 2017 when the Mumbai Indians captain was looking to secure his place back in the national team. Later, he played in the IPL and eventually received his national call for the Champions Trophy. Recently, Sharma even led the Indian side towards winning their seventh Asia Cup title after he was appointed as the stand-in captain in replacement of Virat Kohli.

Similarly, it is possible that along with Rohit Sharma, players that are not part of the Indian Test team will be playing for their respective state teams. Shikhar Dhawan is expected to play a game or two for his domestic side, Delhi who have qualified for the next round. However, the openers will be soon heading to the national side after the Test series against Windies is completed.
