According to reports, Pune police have booked the owners and managers of four hotels at Koregaon Park area for allegedly not following COVID-19 safety guidelines in view of rising cases.

The raid was conducted in Koregaon Park after an order issued by the office of the Pune municipal commissioner on March 12.

On Monday night, March 15, the police released a statement and said that a raid was conducted by a team from Koregaon Park police station, led by Senior Inspector Dilip Shinde and Inspector Vaishali Galande.

The four night-life destinations that are in trouble include Murphies, Talli, The Daily and Publiq.

According to police, the team found that there were more customers than the prescribed seating capacity at these hotels. Police said the hotels were not even displaying the number of customers, which was mandatory now.

A case has been registered at Koregaon Park police station against hotel owners and managers, as per relevant sections of the IPC and the National Disaster Management Act.

With coronavirus cases showing an upward trend once again, on Friday, March 12, the Pune administration decided to bring back stricter restrictions to prevent the situation from going out of control. Though, a night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am is already in place in Pune.

The decision was taken at a weekly review meeting held on March 12, attended by other ministers and district administrations. Ajit Pawar, who is the guardian minister for Pune, chaired the meeting.
