Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests two over alleged corruption charges

Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday night arrested two people including an Octroi Inspector and her daughter for allegedly misusing her position in the government service. Moreover, the Inspector was charged for the accumulation of property more than her income. 

The accused Octroi officer, Lata Gaikwad, was charged for taking a bribe and for possessing more property in proportion to her income. After the retirement, Gaikwad gave ₹3.20 lakh to her daughter Sonali Tambe.

ACB arrested the government officials after it received several complaints regarding Lata Gaikwad. During the investigation, ACB seized ₹21 lakh and discovered that Gaikwad’s daughter also possesses her money. ACB arrested both the accused.
