The Manpada police have busted an illegal online gambling racket operating near the Vishnunagar fish market in Dombivli.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a shop close to Dombivli railway station, where the gambling activities were being conducted without authorisation. During the operation, officials seized equipment and cash collectively worth over INR 40,000.
According to police, the racket involved an online lottery system that promised high returns, with participants allegedly offered up to 180 times their money within minutes. The operation was run using computers and internet connectivity, with transactions carried out in cash.
A case has been registered against the operator and two customers under relevant gambling laws. Further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the racket.
