In recent developments, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Swapnali Kadam in a probe initiated by the agency on properties linked with her Pune based father and businessman Avinash Bhosale.
Avinash Bhosale was investigated by the ED under FEMA in 2007 for importing expensive goods and carrying foreign currency. Again on November 27, 2020, Avinash Bhosale, a builder from Pune, was interrogated by the ED. Swapnali Bhosale is the daughter of Avinash Bhosale and is the wife of Congress Minister Vishwajeet Kadam. In 2019, Avinash Bhosale's places in Pune and Mumbai were also raided by the Income Tax Department. Sources said that the ED has now issued a summon for the interrogation of Swapnali Bhosale. Earlier, the ED had issued a notice to the family of Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik.
Moreover, Vishwajeet Kadam is Minister of State for Cooperation, who was elected to the state assembly from Sangli district’s Kadegaon Palus. However, according to reports Kadam was not available for comment.
On the other hand, in the past, Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik was questioned by the ED for more than six hours over an alleged money laundering case. Moreover, his properties were searched by the agency last year. The Shiv Sena MLA, back in September 2020 had initiated a breach of privilege motion against Arnab Goswami, Republic TV Chief for his comments against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other ministers in the state. Moreover, he had also sought a re-investigation in the suicide case of Anvay Naik for which Goswami had been arrested.
