Following his unavailability on two previous occasions, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent a third summons to Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik for questioning in relation to its probe into Tops Security. An ED official said that Sarnaik has been asked to record his statement on Thursday, December 10.

Despite previous requests and summons, Sarnaik has been evading questioning and is yet to join the ED’s probe. He had said at one point that he was unable to appear before ED as he was under quarantine after a visit to Goa.

In November, ED officials conducted searches at the residence of the MLA as well as his sons in Mumbai. This came after a complaint was filed in late October against Tops Group of Mumbai, a security services provider, alleging that the company duped the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to a tune of ₹175 crores.

The ED alleged that Sarnaik has personally received ₹7 crores for facilitating the deal between the MMRDA and Tops Security. A week ago, the ED sent a fresh summons to Sarnaik and his son Vihang in connection with the same case.
