The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik for the second time whereas his son Vihang Sarnaik was summoned for the fourth time for questioning in an alleged money laundering case.
Earlier on November 24, the ED had interrogated Vihang Sarnaik after he was detained during the raids at the premises of his father Pratap Sarnaik and Top Securities Group in Mumbai. Post the incident he was summoned again for further questioning in the matter on November 25, 26, and 27, however, he failed to appear before the agency.
In recent developments with regards to the case, last week, Amit Chandole was arrested who happens to be a close friend of the Shiv Sena MLA. He also happens to be the promoter of Tops Securities. The investigation in the matter further revealed that Sarnaik had a 50 per cent share in the profits of the MMRDA security guards scam. Furthermore, Chandole has confessed to giving the money to Sarnaik.
Meanwhile, Pratap Sarnaik had earlier requested the ED for a week’s time to appear before it. Sarnaik, requesting for a week’s time stated that he was in COVID-19 quarantine. Moreover, his son Vihang was alleged to be with his wife, who has been hospitalized due to hypertension. However, both of them are expected to appear before the ED coming week.
The Shiv Sena MLA had earlier initiated a breach of privilege motion against Arnab Goswami, Republic TV Chief for his comments against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other ministers in the state. Moreover, he had also sought a re-investigation in the suicide case of Anvay Naik for which Goswami had been arrested.
