In a recently held event, an open firing at a mobile shop in Virar killed two people, where one of them was the owner of the shop. Reports state that two died in the firing and one was injured when he was trying to escape from the robbery on Sunday night.

The owner of the mobile shop, Vishal Gupta, was hit by a bullet and his colleague Vijay Gupta was injured in the firing. It is said that the incident happened close to 9.30 pm when two men came on a motorbike, entered the shop and insisted on buying cellphones. Since they were closing the shop, Vishal explained the same, following which they threatened him and started stealing the mobile phones and other items from the display. This alerted locals and nearby shop owners, who were able to nab one of the suspects, but the other fled.

Both Vishal and Vijay tried to fight, when one of the two men pulled a revolver and fired at them. While Vishal died on the spot, Vijay was injured and admitted to a hospital.

Police have found the revolver used in the crime and are examining CCTV footage for more details.
