Mumbai: Bizzare! Gold Worth Rs 5 Lakhs Recovered From Rats In A Gutter

From Gokuldham Colony in Goregaon, nearly 10 tola worth of gold amounting nearly INR 5 lakhs was recovered from the clutches of rats in a gutter, reports stated.

Based on accounts, a woman was on her way to a bank to deposit the jewellery and gave it to children on the street. The children reportedly mistook it for bread and threw it into a garbage dump.

The gold jewellery was later recovered by the police who checked the CCTV footage. Viewing the same showed some rats taking the bog of gold to a gutter from the garbage dump.

While interacting with news agency ANI, SI Chandrakant Gharge from Mumbai Police elaborated, "10 tola gold worth Rs 5 lakhs recovered from clutches of rats in a gutter near Gokuldham Colony, Mumbai. A woman on her way to deposit jewellery in a bank gave it away to children on street, mistaking it to be bread; children threw it into (a) garbage dump."

He added, "Police later recovered the gold jewellery after checking the CCTV footage which showed a few rats taking the bag of gold from the garbage dump to a gutter".
