Mumbai: A speedy rickshaw knocks off a pedestrian, killing him on the spot

A 42-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a speeding rickshaw in Malad West on Wednesday night. The accident took place at Mith Chowki Junction in Malad West around 9 pm. The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Wasim Ansari and was on his way home after meeting his relatives. 

According to the Malvani police, the impact of the rickshaw was so strong that Wasim Ansari was thrown a few feet into the air and hit his head on the footpath, killing him on the spot.

After doctors declared Ansari dead, Tanveer contacted the police and based on his complaint, a case was registered against the unidentified rickshaw puller under sections 304A (death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) and section 184 (speeding motor act). A police officer from Malvani police station informed that they have seized the rickshaw and are trying to trace the accused.
