One More Accused Arrested In Yusuf Lakdawala Case

Yusuf Lakdawala, a Mumbai-based builder, had been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with a land fraud case. Shaukat Sayyed Mansoor Ghori (50)who was also involved in this case as a broker has also been arrested. 

Yusuf had an eye on a four-acre land in Khandala but he did not get any information about its owner, therefore, no one was coming forward to buy that land. Yusuf along with Mohan Nair forged documents of the land to sell it and Shaukat Ghori accompanied them as a broker.

The trio made the 'Affidavit cum Deed of Confirmation' and submitted its fake documents to the Sub-Registrar's office in Maval.

Ghori used the registration number of Mumbai on these documents and also tried to destroy the original documents. There are allegations that Ghori helped Lakdawala in this case. The police suspect that another group is also involved in this case, and its search is on.

Notably, Yusuf Lakdawala, the prime accused in a ₹50-crore land fraud case, was arrested at Ahmedabad airport when he was trying to escape to London. He was accompanied by two Assistant Police Inspectors (API) from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to his house for a search operation. However, during the search operation, the two Assistant Police Inspectors, Vilas Rathod and Sandeep Sawant allowed Lakdawala to shave, bathe and feast on a meal of chicken biryani along with them at his residence in Bandra without a requisite sanction. The Assistant Police Inspectors have been suspended.
