Mumbai: Tuition teacher burns child’s arm with candle

A tuition teacher used a burning candle to brand an eight-year-old boy’s hand as a punishment for his bad handwriting. This shocking incident took place in Malad. An FIR has been registered against the tuition teacher.

The incident came to light when the boy's father noticed injuries on his hands. He then confronted the teacher and filed a police complaint. Provisions of Juvenile Justice Act and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita against the teacher have been slapped against the teacher.

According to the police, the child lives with his parents and older sister. His father is a vendor by profession. The boy attents tuitions between 7pm to 9pm. On July 28, the teacher called up the boy's father to pick up the child and the father sent his elder daughter. Upon reaching the class, she saw the boy crying and saw the burn marks on his right palm. When the teacher was confronted she did not deny the act.
