The fourth edition of the Indian Oil Western Naval Command (WNC) marathon was held on Sunday, November 17. The event was attended by close to 15,000 participants who ran on Mumbai roads on Sunday morning. The event was flagged off at Ballard Estate near the Naval Dockyard.
However, the participants had a really unpleasant experience. According to police officials, unidentified thieves allegedly stole mobile phones and other valuables from the parked vehicles of marathon participants.

An Azad Maidan official told NDTV that many participants had parked their cars at the nearby street before they went running in the half-marathon. However, when they returned, some of the passengers found that the windows of their cars were smashed and their valuables were stolen from inside.

The official added that since the majority of the cars came under the jurisdiction of Azad Maidan Police Station, the police have registered a case of theft. Many participants complained that their mobiles phones, wallet, documents and other things were stolen.
Upon further probe, it was learnt that this was a handiwork of a gang and not a single person. The officials are currently scanning CCTV footage installed there.
