Jaiswal hailed from Amravati and was a final year Master's student at KEM. It has been reported that he was suffering from depression for the last six months.  The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained and the police are investigating his friends and family. There will be more clarity in the case after the postmortem report.

Earlier this year, resident doctor Dr. Payal Tadvi had committed suicide at BYL Nair Hospital on May 22 after she faced casteist slurs from her colleagues. The accused Dr. Bhakti Mehare, Dr. Ankita Khandelwal and Dr. Hema Ahuja are still in police custody and their medical license has been suspended.

KEM Hospital was in news even last week for an accident of 2-month old infant named Prince. Prince hails from Varanasi and he was admitted to KEM for heart treatment. He was undergoing treatment for a hole in his heart. There was a short circuit in the ECG machine in the ICU ward which resulted in him getting 22 per cent burns. To make sure that the infection doesn't spread further, the doctors had to amputate his right hand. Prince's parents have filed a police complaint against the hospital authorities in Bhoiwada Police Station.
