Bandra: Woman dupes jeweller of ₹28 lakh diamond necklace, arrested

An unidentified woman was arrested by the Bandra police, on Tuesday, November 30, for posing as a celebrity and duping a jeweller of a diamond necklace worth ₹28 lakh, stated reports.

The jeweller lodged a complaint after he found out that the woman was arrested last week for her role in a honey trap case and extortion of INR 3.3 crores from a Kolhapur businessman.

A few months ago, an acquaintance of the jeweller had introduced the woman to him as a celebrity. The woman, identified as Lubina Wazir alias Sapna had expressed her desire to buy a diamond necklace, at that time,

The complainant said that she came to the jewellery store and chose a diamond necklace. She took the necklace with her and told him that she would first show it to her husband before buying it. Following this, she started avoiding their calls for returning the necklace.

The Mumbai police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust. It is registered against the woman and her accomplice, who is yet to be arrested. Meanwhile, in the honey trap case, the police have arrested the main accused, identified as Monica Bhagwan.
