Mumbai: Woman pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle near Bandra-Worli sea Link

A 50-year-old female pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The accident took place on Sunday night. The woman died on Monday during treatment.  Police constable Amol Navadkar (35) was on patrol around 10.30 pm on Sunday when he received information from the control room about an accident in the Reclamation area near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. On reaching the spot, a woman, aged around 50, was found seriously injured.

Local residents informed that the woman was injured in a collision with a vehicle. Navdkar admitted the woman to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. She died during treatment on Monday morning. The woman met with an accident while crossing the road. The identity of the woman has not been confirmed yet. A search is underway for her relatives, informed Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Marathe of Bandra Police Station.

The driver, Gurvinder Singh Kulbir Singh Kir (48), appeared at the Bandra police station on Monday morning. Kir is a resident of Daulat Nagar in Santacruz and owns a stone crushing plant. He was returning from South Mumbai. Visibility was poor due to heavy rain and he did not see the woman crossing the road, he told the police. In this case, the Bandra Police registered a case against the driver, Kir, under Section 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code (causing death by negligence), as well as various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and issued a notice to him.
