Mumbai: BMC Conducts Meeting For Resumption Of Schools With Pre-COVID Timings

Maharashtra cabinet minister, Aaditya Thackeray took to Twitter to announce that on Friday, February 25, he conducted a meeting for schools in Mumbai to resume from March with pre-COVID-19 timings.

This will be coupled with pre-pandemic attendance, curriculum and extra-curricular activities, as well as school buses. These will be taken along with some necessary coronavirus requisite norms. The said resolution is believed to be undertaken considering the fall in COVID-19 cases reported across the city.

Thackeray added that the schools will be encouraged to conduct vaccination camps for those over the age of 15 on campus. This he stated will be done through the support of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body’s education department and doctors.

He added that this should be done with the parent’s consent to see to it that vaccination rates and protection for students eligible for the vaccine.

The BMC also mentioned on Twitter that for all schools within its jurisdiction to commence from 2 March onwards, a meeting was conducted amongst the concerned heads.

According to the civic authority, the meeting was attended by BMC Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Ashwini Bhide, amongst others.
