Under the Advanced Education Program of Maharashtra, the Department of Education inaugurated the ‘Diksha’ app in the presence of Education Minister Vinod Tawde. During the ceremony, Tawde announced that in the coming few months, all the schools will be connected through the Internet and Wi-Fi.
In February 2017, ‘Shikshak Bharati’ had written a letter to the Education Minister requesting for free internet for all the schools in the state. The request was approved by Education Minister as he announced plans to provide schools with Internet and Wifi on July 3.
The school management is already facing financial shortage since they have stopped receiving the salary subsidy and now the expenses of installation for WiFi and internet devices will also fall onto the school management which is a matter of concern for them.
It is evident that the Internet is omnipresent currently and is daily need for every person. The school too needs internet for a number of tasks like student information, access to various websites, apps, digital classrooms, E-learning, etc. under the Advanced Education Program of Maharashtra.
Under the initiative to promote teachers to become Tech Savvy, the teachers are being taught the day-to-day tasks necessary on an Android phone. Besides, several competitions and schemes are being introduced to make the teachers more inclined towards the use of technology.
