Mumbai University ranks 81st on India's top 100 universities list

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was launched in 2015 and is the only national ranking framework for Institutes and Universities in India.

Mumbai University bagged the 81st position in the list with IIT Bombay being the best institute in the state and second best in the country.

St. Xaviers is the only college among the top 100, but its rank reduced from 74 to 96. Matunga's Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) was ranked sixth.

IIT-B’s Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, NITIE and KJ Somaiya were among five B-schools from the city that made it to Top 100. Whereas, not a single medical institution from Mumbai made it to the Top 100.

Other Universities in the top 100 were Homi Bhabha National Institute, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.
