On January 24, Dr. Ajay Deshmukh was appointed as the new Mumbai University Registrar. The new Registrar has succeeded the former acting Registrar Prof. Dr. Sunil Bhirud. Earlier, Deshmukh was Registrar for Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.
Alongside, Dr. Ajay was working as the Director of the Colleges and University Development Board. The newly appointed registrar is also M.A. in English and holds a Ph.D. degree.
A few days ago, Dr. Deshmukh's appointment was being questioned due to allegations against him. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Student Wing had demanded his ouster from his post and wrote a letter to Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao.
But the Governor and the Mumbai University Chancellor has handed a 'clean-chit' to Dr. Deshmukh. Therefore, he was able to take office as the new Mumbai University Registrar.
