Chitra Cinema: One of the oldest single screens in Mumbai to shut down

The iconic and renowned single-screen theatre in Dadar East – Chitra Cinema – will close its curtains on Thursday, May 16. Chitra cinema will shut down after screening its final show of Student Of The Year 2 (SOTY 2).

The single-screen cinema hall, which was operational for many years, will close its 550-seat auditorium because of poor business. Dara Mehta, the third generation owner of the single-screen theatre, informed that single screens are hardly making any money on weekdays. Mehta took over the business from his father PD Mehta in the year 1982.
