Cyclone Vayu To Make Landfall In Mumbai

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rains due to cyclone Vayu approaching at the speed of over 110 km/hr in the coastal areas of Saurashtra peninsula on June 13 and June 14.

In Mumbai, the Airport's Public Relation Officer (PRO) had said that due to heavy rains on Monday evening, some flights that were arriving at Mumbai were diverted to Delhi and Vadodara. Mumbai's IMD has stated that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Greater Mumbai. 

Taking into consideration the cyclone warning, Mumbai Police has issued a notice to alert coastal intelligence machinery including Sagar Rakshak Dal about the situation and further said that the Coast Guards and DCP of Port Zones should coordinate to make sure that no fishermen should be allowed to venture in the sea. If there are any fishermen in the sea already, they should be contacted immediately.
