Mumbai rain is a double-edged sword which can be pleasant as well as fatal. Floods and trees falling are imminent during heavy rainfall every year. The civic authorities have come up with many plans to curb the nuisance as much as possible.

In order to create awareness about trees falling, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has put up over 10,000 posters of warnings on trees across the city. The note reads 'Warning. During heavy rain and winds tree may fall. Be aware' in English and Marathi.

Activists and citizens across Mumbai aren't in favour of this move as this just scares and cautions the people without solving the 'root cause' of the trees falling. The activists have stated that the posters are on any random tree and there has been no proper assessment of the trees by the authorities.

Notably, as per the BMC's compensation policies, if a person is injured due a tree fall, he'll receive ₹50,000 and if the accident claims his life, the family will be given ₹1 lakh.
