Maharashtra has become the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic in India with 1,392 cases being recorded so far. In Maharashtra, Mumbai is the worst-affected region with 884 positive cases. On Friday, three new cases were recorded in Dadar. This also included two nurses from the Shushrusha Hospital. As an aftermath of this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had no other option but to seal the hospital and asked the hospital to make sure that they discharge all its patients within 48 hours.

Along with this, reports indicate that there have been four new cases detected in Prabhadevi. Family of four that has tested positive were residing in a building near Ahuja Tower. Incidentally, Indian cricketer and vice-captain Rohit Sharma lives in Ahuja Towers.

After the tests for these people came positive, the civic body has started the procedure to seal the building and is finding out if other residents in the building had come in contact with the family.

As the new cases originate in the city, the civic body is taking extra measures to curb the spread of the virus. On Thursday, April 9, the BMC identified 200 hotspots in the city where the spread of coronavirus needs to be controlled. With an aim to take strict actions in these critical conditions, BMC officials have decided to impose curfew-like restrictions in these areas, which have been brought in effect immediately, until further notice.

As per regulations, people are strictly told not to leave the houses, and all the essential items will be delivered at respective doors. Only members who are doctors or healthcare officials can leave the premises.

So far, more than 30,000 people have been tested for coronavirus have been conducted in the state. Out of which, 1,392 have been tested positive and 125 have been discharged after they recovered from the virus.

Meanwhile, the state government has home-quarantined 35,533 people whereas 4,731 have been placed under institutional quarantine.
