After 25 Years, MHADA to Fulfill Long-Awaited Dream of Homeownership

MHADA's Konkan Board had invited applications in June 2000 for housing projects in Chitalsar, Manpada, and Tikujiniwadi. Accordingly, applications were submitted to the board. However, for some reason, this plan did not materialise and the applicants' dream of a proper house could not be fulfilled. But now, after 25 years, the Konkan Board has remembered these applicants, as per the report by The Indian Express.  That is why the Konkan Board has now decided to provide houses in multi-storey buildings in the Chitalsar, Manpada, and Tikujiniwadi projects to the applicants who applied in June 2000.

Accordingly, those who have applied can submit their application forms by attending the Gulzarilal Nanda Hall in MHADA Bhavan at 11 am on July 15. It is necessary to bring the necessary documents along at this time.

The Konkan Board decided to build a housing project at Chitalsar, Manpada, Tikujiniwadi. Applications were invited in June 2000 under scheme code numbers 138 and 139 for the allotment of houses here. In response to this, 156 people submitted applications. However, there was no allocation for this code number and the applicants' dream of houses was shattered. The Thane Municipal Corporation proposed a reservation as a displaced housing scheme on the land where the houses were to be built.

As a result, the Thane Municipality did not approve the Konkan Board's project and the project stalled. However, later in 2006, a proposal was made by the developer to construct a multi-storey building on the same site using the Swiss Challenge method. This project, which was undertaken in 2006, has now been completed. The multi-storey building has been completed and the houses in this project will be sold through a lottery.

However, at the same time, senior officials of the Konkan Board informed that some houses in this project have been reserved for those who applied for the lottery in June 2000 and it has been decided to distribute these houses to those applicants. Therefore, the dream of an MHADA house for those who applied 25 years ago will be fulfilled.

As per the board's public notice, consent forms and documents will be collected from those who applied in June 2000 on July 15 at MHADA Bhavan from 11 am. Those applicants who applied at that time and have not yet received a house from MHADA or any other government scheme will be given houses under scheme code numbers 138 and 139.

For this, the consent letters and documents submitted will be scrutinised. After that, houses will be distributed by drawing lots among the eligible applicants. However, officials said that all eligible applicants will get houses and the lottery will only be held to determine which house is on which floor. The new selling prices will be applicable for these houses.
