Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed the traffic police to restrict heavy vehicle movement on Ghodbunder Road from 12 midnight to 6 am. This decision aims to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smoother flow for daily commuters, especially as work on merging the Ghodbunder service road with the main road is ongoing and expected to be completed by December 31.
Minister Sarnaik emphasised that banning heavy vehicles during the daytime is necessary until the merging work is finished. He instructed Thane Traffic Police to coordinate with Mira-Bhayandar and Palghar Traffic Police and issue an official notification soon.

The remaining work of merging the Ghodbunder service road into the main road will begin from September 15 and be completed by December 31, 2025. The minister also urged the MMRDA to follow the schedule strictly to avoid delays.
