These 10 major routes will connect to the Coastal Road:
Senior BMC officials said that the JVPD will be connected to the flyover. This flyover will also connect to the Versova Link Road. Which will then be directly connected to the Coastal Road via the Versova-Bandra Sea Link Connector. Once this project is completed, vehicles coming from the Gokhale Bridge will be able to travel directly to the Coastal Road and the Western Express Highway without any hindrance via the CD Barfiwala flyover.
There are also plans to connect Lokhandwala and Versova-Madh bridge to the Coastal Road. A new route will be opened near Lokhandwala via Madh Interchange, which will take vehicles directly to the Western Express Highway. MMRDA is also working on the expansion of Jogeshwari-Versova Link Road (JVLR), which will further strengthen the entire network.
To ease the journey from Malad to Dahisar, BMC has planned to connect important areas like Mindspace, Charkop and Gorai through interchanges.
Ramchandra Nala Bridge Link: This upcoming bridge in Malad will be connected via Mindspace Interchange.
Charkop Sector-8: This interchange will be connected to S. V. Road near Poisar Junction, thus facilitating traffic between Link Road and S. V. Road.
Dahisar Connector: Gorai Interchange and Kanderpada Rotary will also be made part of the coastal road network.
Goregaon-Magthane High-Speed Corridor: East-West Connectivity
Along with the Coastal Road connection, work is also underway on a 5.5 km long high-speed corridor. This corridor will be built between Magathane and Goregaon and will run parallel to the Western Express Highway. This corridor will connect Coastal Road with the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR). This will significantly improve Mumbai's east-west connectivity. This project will provide direct access to the proposed twin tunnels for commuters.
The northern phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project is 22.9 km long and will be completed in phases.
Stage-1: Versova to Bangur Nagar (4.5 km)
Stage-2: Goregaon to Mindspace (3.12 km)
Phase-3: Construction from Mindspace to Charkop (3.9 km double tunnel)
Phase-4 and 5: Construction from Charkop to Gorai and finally to Dahisar.
