Maharashtra Government only accepted recommendation cited by commission report: CM Fadnavis on Maratha Reservation

After submitting the State Backward Class Commission’s report on Maratha reservation, Maharashtra government on Thursday informed Bombay High Court that the government has considered the recommendations cited by the report. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also declared the same while speaking on the third day of Maharashtra Assembly winter session.  

CM Fadnavis clarified that the whole report has not been accepted but only its recommendations for the Maratha reservation. Amid outrage from the opposition, Fadnavis said that the reservation which will be given to Maratha community will not hamper the OBC quota.

After Maratha reservation issue, Senior MLA Ganpatrao Deshmukh raised the reservation issue of Dhangar community in Maharashtra Assembly saying that the report on the same for Dhangar community is not being presented. Reacting to the same, the Chief Minister said that the former government had prepared a misleading report on the same while the current government is serious about the issue and is trying to rectify it.
