After Communist Party of India (Marxist), Congress has also backed the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) in Palghar ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha poll. While challenging the Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance, Congress has offered Palghar LS constituency to five times MLA and BVA supremo Hitendra Vishnu Thakur.

Sources informed that the Thakur might accept Congress’ offer to contest from the Palghar LS constituency. NCP has given Hatkanangale LS seat to Swabhimani Paksha President Raju Shetti while the Congress has compromised on Palghar seat.

Earlier on Thursday, CPI (M) declared their support to BVA chief Hitendra Thakur for contesting LS election from Palghar constituency. The support from CPI(M) for BVA came after Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance did not leave the Dindori LS constituency in Nashik.

Earlier in 2014 general elections, late BJP leader Chintaman Vanga defeated the BVA candidate Baliram Jadhav, Kharpade Ladkya Rupa of the CPI(M), and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) leader Gavri Shyam Anant. However, after the demise of Vanga in 2018, BJP candidate Rajendra Gavit was elected as the MP in the Lok Sabha by-poll.
