According to the latest reports, Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Raut's Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now been extended till August 8 when he was produced before a special court on Thursday, August 4. He was arrested by the ED in the Patra Chawl money laundering case.

Based on accounts, the court said the ED has made "remarkable progress" in the probe. It added that the trail of INR 1.17 and 1.08 crore money was not before the court earlier and thus more amounts have been shown. They added that the ED showed a bank statement and additional trail. It is believed that some aspects needed further probing but they opined the same can be done till August 8 wherein the ED can look into all aspects.

Narratives suggest that the advocate had filed an intervention application on behalf of Swapna Patkar, a witness claiming that she was threatened by Raut. However, the court mentioned that the person has to approach the concerned authority.

The ED had produced Raut before the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Monday, August 1 and sought his custody for eight days. However, then the court sent Raut into custody till August 4. Back then the ED told the court that Raut and his family attained "proceeds of crime" worth more than INR 1 crore from alleged irregularities in the housing redevelopment project.
