According to the latest reports, the court has sent Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till August 4 in connection with the Patra Chawl case.

On Monday, August 1, morning, Raut was produced in court by the ED who sought his custody for eight days. ED's lawyer argued reportedly argued that Pravin Raut, the ex-director of Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd did not invest a single penny. However, he received INR 112 cr. The lawyer claimed that the investigation brought to light that INR 1.6 cr was transferred to an account of Sanjay and Varsha Raut. He alleged that Raut and his family were beneficiaries of INR 1.6 cr

Based on accounts, the lawyer added that the investigation showed that from INR 1.6 cr, a plot of land at Alibaug's Kihim Beach was bought. While one plot was in the name of Sapna Patkar, the probe also showed that Pravin Raut was the frontman of Sanjay Raut. Moreover, the lawyer voiced that while Raut was summoned four times, he appeared before the ED only once. Allegations were made that Raut attempted to tamper with evidence and key witnesses.

Narratives suggest that to this, Raut's lawyer told the court that his client's arrest is politically motivated. He claimed that Raut his patient with a heart-related ailment had also undergone surgery.

Reacting to Raut's detainment, earlier in the day, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Raut's family at his residence. Following this, he interacted with the media and declared that they are proud of Raut who is a true Shiv Sainik.

He was quoted in narratives saying, "There's a dialogue in 'Pushpa' - "jhukega nahi". But the real Shiv Sainik who won't bend is Sanjay Raut. Those who used to say they won't bend are all that side today. That's not the direction shown by Balasaheb." Thackeray went on to claim that a vendetta politics mindset is underway.
