On Thursday, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena took an aggressive stand against Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut. Party workers staged protests against Raut’s sensational allegations against CM’s son Shrikant Shinde. Raut had alleged that a local goon was hired by the MP to attack him. In various parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, supporters of the Shinde faction held ‘jode maro’ protests.

Protests were carried out in Borivali, Kandivali, Mulund, Dadar, Thane, Dombivali and Panvel. MP Rahul Shewale, MLAs Prakash Surve and Mangesh Kudalkar, and party leaders Naresh Mhaske, Rajesh More and Mahendra Dalavi, among others carried out the protests.

In Thane, legal action has also been initiated against Raut. If the allegations are found baseless, strict action would be initiated against Raut, CM Shinde said.

When Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was asked about Sanjay Raut’s statement, he said it is becoming more and more difficult to believe in Sanjay Raut’s statement. However, I will investigate the matter as he has shown trust in me, he added.
