One of the prominent figures of Indian history and a major factor behind the partition of India and Pakistan, late Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s bungalow at Malabar Hill will receive a transformation soon. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will be taking over the bungalow and have declared to convert it into an international center. It is said that the legal procedure for the takeover has been completed.

Similar to the Hyderabad House in New Delhi, the Government of India plans to use the Jinnah House for hosting parties, banquets, meetings, and dinners for foreign dignitaries. However, prior to this, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mangalprabhat Lodha had asked for the demolition of Jinnah House, in order to create a new cultural center instead.

As per information by Lodha, the Ministry of External Affairs has received the permission for possession of the same. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj stated that PM Narendra Modi has directed the renovation and the work for converting it has started.

The house was built by Jinnah in 1936 at the cost of ₹2 lakh and was known as South Court earlier. The bungalow flaunts the Indo-Gothic style of construction and is located across an area of almost 2.5 acres.
