Following the incident where red paint was thrown on Meenatai Thackeray’s statue near Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (Thackeray) has decided to enclose the statue in a transparent glass case to prevent any such acts in the future. Work on the enclosure has already begun.

The shocking incident occurred on Wednesday morning when anti-social elements defaced the statue with red oil paint, causing unrest among Shiv Sainiks. Soon after, a large number of party workers, office bearers, and activists began gathering at the site, leading to temporary tension in the area.

To clean the statue, nearly four liters of thinner were used. Shiv Sainiks, including branch head Ajit Kadam and former branch head Chandrakant Zagade, personally scrubbed the statue to remove the paint. By Wednesday midnight, the police had arrested one accused in connection with the act.

To safeguard the statue, the Shiv Sena (Thackeray) has decided to install a protective glass enclosure, similar to the memorial of cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar nearby, which is surrounded by glass panels displaying cricket equipment like a bat, helmet, gloves, ball, and stumps. The Meenatai Thackeray statue will now be similarly protected.
