Mumbai Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Nawab Malik on Tuesday celebrated the Supreme Court order on Maharashtra Formation Government tweeting, “Satyamev Jayate. BJP ka khel khatam (Truth always prevails, BJP’s game over).”

Reacting to the Supreme Court verdict, Nawab Malik said that they have the numbers to prove majority in the floor test which will be conducted on November 27. Malik called the SC’s decision on Maharashtra government formation “a milestone in the Indian democracy”.

The court has given its order today. The floor test will happen tomorrow and we have the numbers. The Supreme Court’s order is a milestone in Indian democracy. We are hopeful that before 5:00 PM everything will be clear. The BJP game is over,” said Nawab Malik while talking to the media.

The apex court on Tuesday pronounced the judgment on Maharashtra Government Formation saying that the floor test to be held by protem speaker in Maharashtra assembly on Wednesday. The SC directed that the floor test will be conducted through the open ballot and the same will be telecasted live.

In its order, the Supreme Court ruled that the oath ceremony of MLAs shall be conducted by 5:00 PM tomorrow followed by the floor-test.

In a surprise twist, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis on November 23 took oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar became Deputy Chief Minister.

However, as this happened, NCP chief Sharad Pawar clarified that it was Ajit Pawar’s decision to join hands with the BJP and not NCP’s.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) along with Congress and Shiv Sena on Monday morning stake claim to form government in Maharashtra and submitted support letters to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

Moreover, the three parties had filed a joint petition demanding that the floor test should be ordered within 24-hours.
