A heated exchange took place during a BMC meeting over the redevelopment of BEST depots, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray taking a swipe at Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde.

Thackeray criticised the functioning of the civic administration and questioned the handling of the redevelopment issue. He also took a dig at the Mayor, saying that if she was unable to manage the proceedings, she should step down from the post.

The remarks came amid a wider political dispute over the redevelopment of BEST depots and the manner in which important civic issues are being discussed and decided in the BMC.

The confrontation has added to the growing political friction within the newly elected Mumbai civic body, with the opposition questioning the functioning of the administration and the ruling side defending its approach.

Thackeray’s remarks against the Mayor have further intensified the political battle over the future of BEST properties and their redevelopment in Mumbai.
