In the latest round of war of words between Mumbai Mayor, Kishori Pednekar and BJP leader, Ashish Shelar, on Monday, December 20, Pednekar dared Shelar to prove his statement that an MVA minister was present at a party hosted by Karan Johar, the filmmaker, reports highlighted.

According to accounts, apart from this, Pednekar also asked that Shelar give a public apology. Alongside this, she also hit out at the BJP for causing unnecessary issues by means of baseless allegations. The filmmaker's party had come under the radar of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after two attendees of the party tested positive for COVID-19.

This incident later took the shape of a political battle with Shelar alleging that a state minister was also present at the event. Last week, while talking to reporters Shelar asked the civic authority if a cabinet minister was attending the party.

Shelar, based on reports asked if a Maharashtra minister was there at the dinner party organized at Karan Johar's home. He further went on to claim that there were discrepancies in the information of the attendees given by the celebrities. According to him, this raises questions about the number of people in attendance at the party. He believes this is an attempt to hide certain names.

To this, Pednekar responded that the civic body had undertaken the requisite steps, checked CCTV footage as well as undertook contact tracing. She juxtaposed Shelar's remarks to what he had made during actor Sushant Sing Rajput's death for which no proof was given to the citizens.
