Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday listed five names for a joint committee which will be formed with Congress to decided a ‘common minimum programme’ (CMP) before the possible alliance with Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra.
In the committee, the names of top NCP leaders have been suggested. This decision comes after the meeting of NCP MLAs concluded at YB Chavan centre in Mumbai.
NCP’s legislature party leader Ajit Pawar followed by party’s Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil, party’s Mumbai unit chief Nawab Malik and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in state Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde will be part of the committee.
The NCP formed its panel after party chief Sharad Pawar met Congress leader Ahmed Patel on Tuesday and decided to have a CPM before allying with Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra.
Congress on Tuesday night announced the formation of a committee to hold talks on the CMP and top party leaders including Ashok Chavan, Manikrao Thakre, Balasaheb Thorat are part of the panel.
After the President’s rule was imposed in Maharashtra, the state politics is still pacing with NCP and Congress in continuous discussions regarding the formation of government in alliance with Shiv Sena.
Since the declaration of assembly election results in Maharashtra, the state is under deadlock over government formation. BJP, being the single largest party with 105 seats, failed to stake claim after Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari invited them.

Shiv Sena and BJP alliance got indulged in a huge tussle over power-sharing and failed to form the government. Now, NCP and Congress alliance are working its way to ally with Shiv Sena and stake claim to do the same – in order to keep BJP out of power.
