Amid speculation over the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections, Thane-based NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Anand Paranjpe has clarified his position after reports suggested he was upset over being denied a ticket and was in touch with the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde.
Paranjpe, who was considered a contender for an MLC seat, was reportedly overlooked as the party instead chose Zishan Siddique as its candidate. This led to speculation that he may be dissatisfied and exploring political alternatives, including possible entry into the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
However, Paranjpe has dismissed these claims, calling them baseless rumours and stating that there is no plan for him to switch parties. He clarified that he remains with the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) and continues to support the Mahayuti alliance.
The reports had also suggested that he was in contact with Shiv Sena leadership, but Paranjpe denied any such political move and said his interactions with leaders are part of routine political engagements.
The development comes at a time when discussions over MLC nominations have triggered internal buzz and speculation within Maharashtra’s ruling alliance.
