NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar recently held a press conference in Mumbai, where he expressed doubts about whether the crash was merely an accident. He raised several concerns, including why a 16-year-old aircraft was used, whether proper maintenance checks had been conducted, and why the pilot was changed before the flight despite relatively light morning air traffic. He also questioned possible issues related to fuel, the aircraft’s transponder system, and delays in forensic procedures.
Rohit Pawar suggested that, in addition to Indian investigative agencies such as the CID and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), experienced international aviation experts should be involved to ensure a transparent and thorough probe.
Family Seeks Clear Answers
Reacting to Rohit Pawar’s statements, Pinky Mali’s father, Shivkumar Mali, said he shares the concerns raised during the press conference. According to him, several aspects of the crash remain unclear and require deeper investigation.
He noted that his daughter had previously flown four times with Ajit Pawar on black-painted aircraft, but on this occasion, the aircraft was white, which he found unusual. He also questioned the last-minute change of pilot and emphasized that this detail should be carefully examined.
Shivkumar Mali further criticized the aircraft operator, alleging that the company did not reach out to the family after the accident. He said that he and his son-in-law had to travel to Baramati themselves to bring Pinky’s body home. The family is also awaiting clear information regarding her salary, allowances, and insurance benefits.
Ongoing Investigation
The crash is currently under investigation by the CID and DGCA. While the family has expressed trust in the authorities, they have urged that the inquiry be conducted transparently and, if necessary, with the assistance of international aviation specialists to ensure all doubts are addressed.
