A special MCOCA court in Mumbai has framed charges against 27 accused in the murder case of senior NCP leader Baba Siddique. This step indicates that the court found sufficient preliminary evidence to proceed with a full trial.

The accused have been charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and criminal conspiracy. Additional charges have been filed under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act. All 27 accused have pleaded not guilty.

Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead on October 12, 2024, outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra (East), Mumbai. According to the police, the killing was part of an organised crime conspiracy. Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been named as a wanted accused in the case.

With charges now formally framed, the case will move into the trial stage. The prosecution will present evidence including witness statements, forensic reports, and call records. Framing of charges does not imply guilt; it simply marks the official beginning of the trial proceedings.

Additionally, one of the accused has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court in a separate hearing.
